Wimmer hosts Triaster Training
April 24, 2009
As the first installment in a series of active learning opportunities for our consultant community, Wimmer Solutions was pleased to host a dynamic,
day-long learning session designed to confer cutting-edge process mapping skills to consultants interested in learning Triaster Process Navigator.
In late 2008, Wimmer began a partnership with UK-based Triaster to provide new business process improvement and process library opportunities to our clients.
After training a smaller of internal staff earlier in the year to implement the Visio-based software-as-a-service for several top clients, we received such positive
responses that we decided to expand our capabilities in the field. Taught by Wimmer Consultant Bruce Dibble and Triaster’s Mary Brown, the larger session, held for
fifteen of our consultants and many members of our internal staff, was a great success - both for those learning the software for the first time, and for previously
trained employees looking to enhance their skills in process requirement gathering, gap analysis, map development and RACI assignment. Attendees participated in
hands-on activities helping them to dissect business and technology processes into component actions and deliverables, identifying bottlenecks along the way and
highlighting opportunities to streamline the process to produce higher-quality deliverables with greater consistency. Improving processes by design has many benefits;
during the session, participants commented on those that would be most helpful to their own area of focus, from driving customer satisfaction through greater operational
efficiency to accelerating cost savings for clients concerned about uncertain economic conditions. “[Triaster] has been central to building support for our own
internal process improvements,” commented Nicole Sylvester, Wimmer’s Client Services Director. “I’ve also heard from a number of clients who credit our Triaster
implementation with marked growth in their business groups…I’m glad that we were able to provide our consultants with another actionable means of enhancing their
own career growth with a skill set that is highly in-demand.” Wimmer plans to conduct regular installments of Triaster training as demand continues to grow, along
with a series of other educational sessions to help drive our consultants’ careers to the next level. For more information about Triaster, please visit

Wimmer Launches New Process
Library Offering
February 2, 2009
Wimmer Solutions is proud to introduce its new service-based offering: process
library development! We have recently
partnered with UK-based Triaster Process Library, with whom we share a common
client, to offer a unique and comprehensive solution to the challenges business
face in executing scalable, repeatable process improvements, streamlining
current operations and communicating initiatives across diverse business groups.
After unveiling the offering to our first client, the glowing responses we
received to the Triaster solution, coupled with growing demand from other
customers led us to develop a new, customized offering. With the active
involvement of Triaster’s creator, Michael Cousins, Wimmer’s COO Kevin Higman,
Principal Consultant Russ Finseth and IT Director Chris Johnson collaborated to
design a scalable business process library offering that has our pilot clients
eager to refer their own colleagues and clients.
For more information about Triaster, please visit
www.triaster.co.uk, or give us a call to
discuss how your team can benefit from this high-impact solution.
Now
Appearing in 'The Biggest Little City in the World'...
January 26, 2009
We’re there to stay! Wimmer Solutions’ Strategic Management Team member Jay
Smith has worked hard to build a valuable presence in Reno, NV. While Jay attributes our success in
the region to the good folks in Reno, we all recognize that building a
close-knit community based on shared values is no simple feat.
With a population a little less than half that of Seattle, Jay and the whole
Wimmer team have been thrilled to find such an extensive, diverse community of
talented professionals, whose areas of expertise are a great fit for our local
technology clients. Outside of the office, our Reno consultants (and clients!)
are just as dynamic and talented as they are during the work day – true to the
Wimmer culture, they work hard and play hard like their cohorts in the Puget
Sound area and beyond. The rugged landscape of Nevada is conducive to all types
of outdoor activities, and many of our consultants and clients alike can be
found skiing, fishing, rock climbing or mountain biking after work. Our
Executive Team has thoroughly enjoyed hitting the slopes, trails, fishing (and
watering) holes with our Reno clients and consultants. With Jay’s help, our team
gets to know every member of the consultant community over monthly dinners, ski
trips, and other activities. We’re especially excited to have built a cohesive
local team whose members’ support for one another, and eagerness to perform at
their peak, echoes the values of our internal team.
Recently, in complement to a series of successful ongoing engagements with our
largest Reno customer, Wimmer Solutions earned the privilege of providing a
major client with an entire Audit Analyst team, managed by a Wimmer Solutions
Project Manager, to support a major Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiative. Our
selection for this opportunity is testament to Wimmer’s reputation for providing
high-quality, integrity-based solutions executed by top-tier professionals.
Congratulations, Coach Kerns!
January 5, 2009
Wimmer Solutions recruiter Stew Kerns is now even busier than he was under the
high expectations of his employer – he’s recently been named Head Coach of The
University of Washington Men’s Lacrosse team after Fred Wilmot stepped down from
the position.
Bringing a wealth of competitive experience to his new post at the UW, Stew
draws on the lessons learned from his own successful athletic career to help
players gain the technical skills and physiological edge that give them an
advantage over their competitors. “There is some great young talent with a lot
of potential to help the program immediately,” Stew says. “I love working with
these guys.” Clearly, the diligent work ethic and dynamic approach to problem
solving that Stew brings to Wimmer Solutions are equally alive on the field. His
ultimate goal for this year is to “create a successful change management system
for the team by creating a lacrosse culture at the University of Washington.”
We’re all proud of Stew and what he brings to our own team, and know that his
players and colleagues at the UW will revere his passion for perfection and
drive to advance the presence of the sport on campus and beyond.
Please join our team for UW’s season opener
against Chico State on February 6 at 7 pm at UW’s IMA field. See the schedule
below for more opportunities to catch Stew’s team in action, and check out
WaLax.com for an
exclusive interview with Coach Kerns.

Say it
Isn't So! Wimmer moved off of the lake???
November 8, 2008
Well, yes…we moved. But we’re still
on the lake! We outgrew the location
that we were so very proud to have, but CFO Brad Coulter ensured that our
culture was not sacrificed for our growth. Kevin
Higman, our COO, took on the massive task of identifying an ideal location whose
character reflects not only our roots but also our future. Kevin’s design
direction was instrumental in creating a workspace within that allows for even
more growth while capturing a high-tech, synergistic workplace within a timeless
landmark structure on Seattle’s Lake Union waterfront at 1341 N. Northlake Way,
in the eclectic Fremont neighborhood.
Previously home to the Honda Marine Center, the century-old structure was due
for a facelift when it was renovated last year. Thankfully, the new building
owners worked hard to preserve the nautical motifs that remind us of our early
days across the lake, integrating the dark wood structural beams with a
Northwest modernist aesthetic that fits us just right (as well as the earthquake
braces and other up-to-the-minute safety updates that give us peace of mind).
Our new office has plenty of space for our whole internal team (including Kenny,
Peaches, Hammer, and other four-legged friends), and has plenty of space to
accommodate Wimmer’s Managed Service projects. We are currently home to
Microsoft’s MapPoint/Virtual Earth sales team, and still have room to grow!
Four-legged or two, all the residents of Suite 300 love the new location, whose
onsite gym, boat slip (home to the Slacker),
bike room and integrated digital entertainment system make for an easy
transition from working hard to playing hard. We’ll be hosting events here
throughout the year to showcase our new space and connect with consultants,
clients, and other friends, but you’re also welcome to stop by for a personal
tour – hope to see you soon!
Wimmer Wins Hawai'i Invitational Lacrosse Tournament
October 26, 2008
This just in! In true Wimmer style, the 2008 Wimmer Solutions Lacrosse team
recaptured the Lei O Mano trophy we last took home in 2005, winning the
action-packed Elite Championship game 10-8 against the Crease Monkeys. Wimmer
attackman Matt Alrich was named the MVP of a final game, duked out to the last
second by a list of players read like a roster of the ILF World Championships.
Wimmer also took home the Masters' Championship title with a 3-1 win over the
Crease Monkeys. For a tournament play-by-play and action photos of the
Championship games, visit the Inside Lacrosse

Wimmer's Winners: AT&T PM Symposium Wrapup
October 8, 2008
Held on Tuesday, October 7, the annual AT&T Project Management Symposium at
the Redmond Town Center offered Project and Program Managers across the
company's divisions a chance to come together for presenter
webcasts, onsite workshops, and moderated discussions revolving around diverse
aspects of project and program management. The Wimmer Solutions team was excited to be invited to the Symposium once again,
as one of the few external vendors invited to connect with attendees of this
unique annual event.
As a thanks to the many visitors who stopped by to learn more about our
method of cross-team orchestration, and the many advantages our cutting-edge
project and program management tracks have in today's changing telecom fields,
Wimmer offered a chance to win one of two gift certificates to the Bellevue
Collection. Our congratulations go out to entrants Nadine T. and Don K, who will
each be receiving a gift certificate and Wimmer prize pack this week.
Thank you to all the organizers and attendees of this exciting event; we
hope to see you all again next year!
New Consultant Onboarding Project Takes Off
September 15, 2008
September marks the launch of Wimmer Solutions
new and improved Consultant Onboarding Program and New Consultant Orientation
Series. The success we’ve experienced in the past several years is a sign of
more great things to come; by growing our family of consultants, we have
reinforced strong relationships with our existing clients, and have also been
able to support many new customers with the resources they need to achieve their
goals.
Over the past three years, our revenue has grown
over 600%, and we know that as more clients benefit from our integrated
solutions, we will bring in more and more talented resources to address our
customers’ changing business needs. Keeping in mind that our people are the
source of our strength, we are taking steps to help new ‘Wimmerites’ feel more
at home with the tools they need to become more familiar with clients’ (and our
own) expectations before they ever set foot onsite, and to engage in clients’
company culture from day one. Every element of the project is designed to help
our consultants learn from the challenges we have faced, share in building
community with other consultants, and feel at home with Wimmer Solutions.
Developed by Project Manager and long-time Wimmer consultant Neil Vaughan, with
the input and involvement of writer/designer Nicole Sylvester and the whole
Wimmer Solutions team, the project includes a secure, interactive SharePoint
site where consultants can access client profiles, presentation materials, self
evaluation and troubleshooting tools, as well as other resources to help them
exceed clients’ expectations and address potential challenges before they arise.
Here, portal members can access both general and client-specific forms and
templates easily tailored to the needs of any project, including status reports
to keep clients informed of their progress, and transition document templates to
help internal teams capitalize on project gains, improving their performance
even after transfer of project ownership.
The new onboarding project also includes an intensive New Consultant
Orientation, to be held monthly at Wimmer’s new headquarters in Fremont’s
Northlake Building. Our presentation will give every new consultant a chance to
interact with our Executive Leadership Team, tour our new facility, and engage
with other consultants over coffee and snacks. The orientation will also give
consultants a chance to learn about Wimmer Solutions and our dynamic internal
team, and to learn about our clients, projects, and procedures. Most
importantly, they’ll leave the orientation with a better understanding of what
it means to be a Wimmer Consultant, deputized into the field with the means to
thrive.
If you have any questions about the Consultant Onboarding Project, or if you are
a client who would like to attend one of our Orientation Sessions, please email
Nicole Sylvester at
nicoles@wimmersolutions.com.
Wimmer Solutions Honored by Inc. 5000 For Sales Growth of 604.5%
August 15, 2008
This year, Wimmer Solutions was honored by Inc.
5000 as one of the country’s 5000 fastest-growing privately held companies.
The 2008 list measures revenue growth from 2004
through 2007, and is comprised of independent-minded entrepreneurial companies
that represent the backbone of the U.S. economy. To qualify, companies must be
privately held, based in the United States, and independent (not subsidiaries or
divisions of other companies) as of December 31, 2007. Each company must also
have posted revenues of at least $200,000 in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.
“Our second annual Inc. 5000 continues the most
ambitious project in business journalism,” said Inc. 5000 Project Manager Jim
Melloan. “The Inc. 5000 gives an unrivalled portrait of newer companies across
all industries doing fascinating things with cutting-edge business models, as
well as older companies that are still showing impressive growth.”
This year, Wimmer Solutions narrowly missed the
prestigious Inc 500 list, placing 528th
nationwide. Regionally, we ranked second in our industry, and came in at 24th
place nationally, with a growth rate of 604.5% over the past three years, an
impressive feat in a field of companies whose median three-year growth was 147%.
Our growth and ranking are especially notable when compared to the median growth
of other Consulting and IT Services companies (which grew by 182%, and 187% on
average, respectively). Despite our rapid evolution, Wimmer Solutions continues
to stay true to its small-business roots by establishing enduring relationships
with the clients and consultants who have been key to our success, and who
remain at the heart of our business.
Along with other 2008 Inc. 5000 companies,
Wimmer Solutions is proud to serve as a catalyst for job growth in the local
region and beyond, helping clients achieve their business objectives by engaging
top-tier resources for long and short-term projects, and helping consultants
advance their careers with challenging work that brings them closer to their own
goals.
Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including our company profile and a list of
the fastest-growing companies in other industries can be found at
www.inc5000.com.
Wimmer Solutions to Relocate its World Wide Corporate Headquarters October 1st
June 17, 2008
Over the past (nearly) six years Wimmer Solutions has experienced tremendous success and growth, driven by the hard work of our employees, consultant community and loyal customers. As everyone knows who has visited our Lake Union home offices,
this also means we have outgrown our current accommodations. To alleviate the
crunched workspace, build out space for more of our project teams, and accommodate future growth, Wimmer Solutions has signed a lease for new space in the Northlake Building near Seattle’s Fremont district. The new 8000+ square foot,
state-of-the-art space is due to be ready by October. We are excited about the space, room to grow and opportunity welcome visitors to our new Corporate Headquarters.
Wimmer Solutions Project Services Takes on New Customer
May 30, 2008
Wimmer Solutions Project Services has been working on a number of initiatives to bring new IT and Business Consulting solutions to market. One customer is a local provider of security services who has engaged us on a number of projects to date that include a new SharePoint based intranet solution, a website re-design, and an upgrade to their network infrastructure utilizing an Active Directory implementation. We will be making a white paper documenting the technologies implemented and methodologies we use to deploy them available on the wimmersolutions.com site soon.
Wimmer Solutions Rolls Out New Charitable Giving Programs
April 24, 2008
Wimmer Solutions believes in giving back to the community that has helped shape and grow our company. Rather than giving relatively small amounts to a wide variety of charities, Wimmer has decided to indentify nine charities to build a Charitable Giving Program around. The belief is that by limiting the number of charities, Wimmer can maximize the dollars going into these charities and therefore the impact. The charities below were chosen based on their high organizational efficiency (high % of each dollar goes to the charity’s purpose and not administration) and Wimmer’s past experiences with each of these organizations.
2008 Wimmer Selected Charities:
· American Cancer Society
· American Heart Association
· Big Brothers Big Sisters
· Special Olympics
· Children’s Miracle Network
· Ronald McDonald House Charities
· Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
· ASTAR Center (Autism)
· The United Way
