Challenge

Microsoft’s Enterprise Partner Group (EPG) was in need of Project Management resources to help create and maintain planning projects websites, manage risks and issues, build and maintain schedules, and report status for multiple projects in the EPG planning process, which consisted of the Growth and Productivity Framework (GPF) and the Segment Alignment Workshop (SAW).

For this particular initiative, the Wimmer team worked to ensure that EPG’s existing vendor SharePoint portal was operating effectively and efficiently.

Solution

Wimmer’s assigned planning and program manager worked to ensure that EPG’s existing vendor SharePoint portal was operating effectively and that all content was up-to-date, including site areas dedicated to key contacts; deliverables and milestones; risks and issues related to ongoing EPG projects; as well as that linkages were correct and functional between the business group’s Growth and Productivity Framework site and Segment Alignment Workshop site.

In order to achieve the above deliverables on schedule and in a quality manner, the Wimmer Team utilized the following technical skills:

  • IT Project Management
  • Technology Architecture Planning
  • Process Analysis

Wimmer resources were responsible for general site administration to keep the content current and the architecture optimal for its user base, as well as project management to provide risk and issue management, status reporting, schedule creation and maintenance. By serving as a representative for EPG’s planning manager in vendor team meetings, our resources communicated leadership direction as to defining global strategies that enabled implementation across 13 global areas.

Innovation & Impact

Working closely with the BMO, EPG Stakeholders, other Segment Planning Leads, and Business Planning & Operations communities worldwide, as representative of the EPG Planning Manager our consultants oversaw the design and implementation of workshops across sales, services, marketing, and partner leads in support of the development of actionable plans in the subsidiaries.

Additionally, Wimmer provided extensive analysis to optimize EPG architecture, including the development of ‘as is’ process documentation and analysis; and crafting high-level tools architecture diagrams for EPG GPF and SAW. Finally, Wimmer Solutions provided associated marketing support; this included leading new programs designed to identify, measure, and prioritize growth opportunities to drive efficacy and efficiency (revenue and cost of sales) in the field, as well as developing executive presentations and updating the SAW website with project status.
